Jack the Ripper (1888–89) was a notorious serial killer who murdered five women in the East End of England during August and September 1888. He was known locally as "the Whitechapel Murders" or "the Ripper". His victims were prostitutes working in the area of Spitalfields, Whitechapel and Aldgate.
